Allison Rice & Associates is happy to welcome Sandra (she / her) to our team as faciliator of special project contracts and reduced rate counselling.
Sandra's career has spanned over 25 years of working with individuals, families and couples within Vancouver’s counselling community. Sandra’s work is trauma-informed, attachment and strength based. She integrates a holistic approach in her work and is continually eager for opportunities to grow professionally and personally.
Sandra has a long history of working in the social profit (formerly called non profit) sector of Vancouver as a community counsellor specializing in addiction. This work includes developing and delivering a unique prevention programing to youth in Vancouver elementary schools. Sandra's passion is in her work with couples and families. She draws on her couples training with the Gottman Institute along with her work in family-strengthening.
Sandra’s strength is in building trusting and respectful therapeutic relationships with the people she supports. She says, “I believe in an individual’s desire to turn towards their experiences in life and be free to live with their experiences of the past into their present with less negative impact. To explore ways to sustain our well-being in our present relationships with ourselves and others.” Sandra’s personal growth has taken her on an exploration of mindfulness, meditation and taking the time to pause, listen and pay attention to the present. She loves to carry the wisdom and traditions of the grandmothers of her family, taking time to garden, cook, be with family and welcoming all friends to the table.
“We all carry within us our places of exile, our crimes, our ravages. Our task is not to unleash them on others and on the world. It is to transform them, to meet them with compassion in ourselves and others.” - Albert Camus
