Welcome Anna MacGillivray to Allison Rice Therapy & Associates!

Picture
My business partner Jen & I interviewed a number of applicants and we were really impressed with Anna, a graduate of Adler University with additional trainings in Emotion Focused Therapy, somatic techniques, mindfulness, and yoga. Anna joins us part-time in our Vancouver office in compliment to her non-profit work in the community.

Anna has space to take on new clients and is currently accepting referrals!

The work that I love to do.

People look for a counsellor because they are at a crossroads in their life. Am I in the right job? Should I change career paths? Am I satisfied in life?

I have a lot of conversations with women in their 20s and 30s wanting to talk about their way of being in the world: intimate relationships / partnerships, family dynamics, career choices, identity claims, their sense of belonging and purpose.

The spiritual component to life doesn't get talked about much in many public circles. What does it all mean? What's it all about? These kinds of existential conversations are some of my favourites to have because I believe that connection is the answer to all problems and that isloation is the petri dish where struggles grow.

I try to strike a balance (knowing how problems operate) between taking an expert position about certain problems and not knowing how people should live their lives.
